Ok, it's offcial...Team Mudd Studs are signed up to participate in the 2008 edition of the Great Muddy Buddy race being held in Orlando, FL on May 10th.
What, you ask, is the Muddy Buddy race? Well it is a 6-7 mile trail course in which team members will take turns running and biking and also be required to complete 5 different obstacles. Obstacles include various things such as climbing a rope ladder, going down huge blow up slides, and other fun stuff. At the start of the race, one team member will run for about a mile while the other team member rides a bike for the same distance. At the first obstacle, the rider will drop the bike, complete the obstacle, and begin running. The runner will arrive, complete the obstacle, find their bike, and begin riding. Teams will continue leapfrogging eachother throughout the entire course until they come to a HUGE mud pit at the finish of the race. Both team members will have to crawl throgh the infamous mud pit to the finishline where they will cross it together.
Glenn and I were approached by our best friends Leah and Scott to do the race with them. So one participating couple led to another and now there are 6 known registered teams (couples) from Ft. Myers competing in the 2008 Muddy Buddy. We're all totally pumped about this race and are all "training" now for our big event.
Each team is required to come up with a team name, so we decided to pick "Mudd Studs" for no particular reason other than we think we're cool =) We also have teams "J&C mudders, Team Nooch, Muddygators, and Team M&M. As if the race alone wasn't something to be excited about, Me and my friends Leah and Terra have decided to rent a "mansion" in Orlando to house all of our families. We've managed to find a 6 bedroom house that we can rent for the weekend for only $250 where 8 adults (parents plus babysitters) and 6 kids can stay. This trip is going to be a hoot, I can't wait. It's going to be like a huge family sleepover. Lets just pray we actually get some sleep at night! Go Team Mudd Studs!!
