On August 1st the meetup group I'm in, Mamapalooza, was having an event at Southern Starz Gymnastics in Cape Coral. This event was really exciting for me because the owners of Southern Starz are my old all star cheerleading coaches from way back when I was in 8th grade. I cheered for the Lee County All Star Cheerleading team from 8th grade up until my senior year of high school. I probably spent more time with this team then anyone else. It was my passion. I also cheered for my high school cheerleading team, and although I loved the atmosphere of the friday night football games, nothing was comparible to competing and performing with my all star team.
I knew that they owned this gym but had not been there yet. I'm very unfamiliar with Cape Coral so I never go over the bridge unless it's absolutely necessary. Lucky for me, Julie, another mom in the group, also works out with me at the Omni. So she offered to let me follow her to the gym.
As we pulled up and parked I was so excited. I gathered the boys and we headed inside. The place was a zoo. I'm pretty sure almost every member of Mamapalooza was at this place. There were kids everywhere. When I got up to the desk to pay, there was my old cheerleading coach Christi. She couldn't believe I was there. We both hugged and began catching up on what was new in our lives. I knew that she had a few kids, so I finally got to meet them. Brady and Baily are boy and girl twins, and Brock is the youngest. They are 11 months apart. I thought I was crazy with my 13 month gap between the boys, but Holy Cow! I couldn't imagine having TWINS, and then 11 months later having another baby. She is a brave brave woman!
After a little bit of chatting, the boys were anxious to get out into the gym and start playing. So I got them ready and sent them out into the madness. Christi told me that everyone would be there today. Sean- her husband, and my tumbling coach from my Lee County All Star years was there and shortly after, Nancy, Christi's mom showed up. It was seriously a blast from my past.
Sean had had a ponytail for as long as I could remember, so it was interesting to see him with his new spikey hair cut. He told me it was a very new cut and that he was "bringing sexy back"! The guy is a freakin' riot! Everyone was doing great and Nancy was just the same. Hilarious and blunt just like I remember her. We talked about all the funny times we remembered from my many years on their team and reminenced. It was a really really great time. I even stayed about 30 minutess after the open gym event was over, to talk to them a little while longer. What a wonderful day!

Oh and the boys had an awesome time. The gym was amazing. They did a really great job with everything. The boys jumped in the foam pit, hopped up and down the tumble trak, climbed over bars and beams and really just enjoyed being a care-free kid. They had a really cool children's area of the gym. It was a miniture sized replica of the gym, complete with a mini trampoline, mini foam pit, slides and a tunnel. Both the boys went from one area to the next within minutes. It was tough trying to keep an eye on both of them especially with so many kids there. The only thing that I felt bad about was not getting a chance to chat with the other moms there. I spent most of my time catching with Christi, Sean and Nancy. Needless to say, we will be hanging out at Southern Starz more often. The boys get to run around like maniacs and I get to chat with my favorite coaches!
