Girls Night Out

A few girls from the gym and I had a girls night Saturday and had a really great time. I of course was running a little late, and then got a call from Leah saying that Terra's car had a flat. I drove over to BJ's where she was broke down. Her husband was already there and the guy at the tire service said he would take a look at it as soon as he was done servicing another car. It turned out that it was just the air valve, so he fixed it and I decided to take a ride with her in her hott little Porche. Something about a fast little two seater and no kids makes me feel like I'm 21 all over again. We started the night off at Blu Sushi at GCTC where we met up with Leah, Karen, Carrie, Maria, Vivian, Eniko, Brigete, Jenn and Bernedette. The food was amazing as usual and the martinis were Superb (all THREE of them). After Blu we went next door to the Fire Pitt and had a few more drinks and then stopped at the Cigar Bar. On a normal night out I wouldn't have had so many drinks but Glenn and Leah's husband, Scott were at Bar Louie across the way, so they met up with us afterwards and were our DD's. The night was a blast, from what I can remember! I even found Terra 2 new favorite drinks. She normally drinks frozen daquaris, so I ordered her a madras and she liked it. But after she sipped one of my Filthy Martinis with bleu cheese stuffed olives, she was hooked!! They are my ultimate favorite alcoholic beverage. Love them!

Train Playground & Chipped Tooth

Today we took a trip to Lakes Park to check out their new Train Playground. It is one of the coolest playgrounds I've seen in a long time. The whole thing is train themed, so of course my kids thought it was so cool! Rylan slept for about half the time we were there. It was freakishly hot out today. I thought I could handle it, but after about 45 minutes I think me and the boys had enough. I'm sure we'll be going back soon...IN JANUARY!
Ok, Ok maybe sooner. Their miniture train ride is under construction so I'm hoping it will be done before the holidays.

Also today, Rylan chipped one of his teeth. We visited my friend Leah today and I had to put him in time-out for eating the dog food, putting it in the water bowl and splashing all the water everywhere after I had told him once not to do it. Typical Rylan is ALWAYS pushing his boundaries. So off to time-out. He was standing in the chair crying and complaining about being in time-out when he flipped over the side onto the floor head first. I didn't see it happen so I wasn't sure how he fell. But when we got home today, we finished eating dinner and he smiled at me and that's when I noticed it. At first I thought he had a piece of black bean on his tooth but after taking a closer look, he actually had chipped his tooth. Thank God those are just his baby teeth because it was really bothering me. His little teeth were so rounded and perfect shaped and now he has a snaggle tooth. Oh well, I'm sure this is just a prelude for the injuries to come. Love Having Boys!!!

Marathon Training...Still Treding Along

Marathon training is still in progress. I've been trying to run at least twice a week, but haven't been sticking to my plan like I hoped to. I've only been doing long runs on the weekends. The past couple weeks I've been very sluggish, and not just in running but at the gym as well. I'm blaming it on my lack of sleep. It's funny that now that my boys are awesome sleepers at night, all I want to do is stay up late. It's the time I get to myself to surf the net, watch my favorite shows, and update my blog, myspace and shutterfly accounts.

My pace has definitely slowed down. When I ran my first half marathon I averaged a little over 9 minute miles finishing a little under 2 hours. But lately my pace has been on average 11 minute miles. I realize that I'm trying to run twice the distance, but my pace is really starting to get me down.

I ran 15 miles about 3 weeks ago and that run was actually pretty good. We completed the 15 miles and felt much better than last time because we were sure to place water spots all around the route.

But this past run that I did with Leah, Scott and the running God Mike Pemberton (owner of Run Florida and founder of the Ft. Myers Track Club) was not too successful. I'm not sure what was my problem but it was just not my day. (prepare for excuses)...My ipod died so I had to use my iphone, which wouldn't be so bad if it actually worked and didn't skip. Then my entire outfit was dripping with sweat and was becoming very irritating. My socks were so soaked that they started slipping into my shoes and started making this really annoying squeaking noise. We had planned to run 20 miles that day, but half way through it I decided I just couldn't do it anymore. We were in front of Botanica Lakes when we hit the 10 mile marker and I couldn't finish. So I called Glenn to pick me up and needless to say I was very disappointed in myself. Leah, Scott and Mike all completed the 20 miles and I'm sure were very proud :)

Hopefully next time I attempt to do this distance it will go much better. I still have about five months to prepare for my marathon which I really can't believe I'm doing. Rylan's 2nd birthday will forever be a memory in my mind as it is the day that the Disney Marathon will be held. I will be celebrating his birthday and my completion of my first marathon on the same day.
Thumbs up for completing 15 miles, Thumbs down because it was really hard!

Blog Overload

Just wanted to leave a note to explain the slacking that has been happening with my blog. I recently had to get a new laptop and have been spending countless house backing up, transferring, and downloading files. What a nightmare! My old laptop was only 4 years old but in technology world it's more like 100 years old. The USB port on my old computer would always pop up this message saying that I could download pictures from my camera faster if I had a faster port. I thought I could just upgrade the port by some download, WRONG. The guy at Apple said I basically had to get a new computer! AGH! My iphone wouldn't even plug into my old computer because of that necessary faster port.
So with a little help from a cool gadget called the "Tornado" I was able to transfer my "favorites", Documents, and my address book. My picture files were too large to transfer, so I figured I would back them up on CD's as I had to do it anyways. But I'm back in action! My new computer is awesome and working fantastically! Let the blogging begin!

I've added some new ones so don't forget to check out:

Kickball Happenings

I'm sad to say that our kickball season has come to an end. Unfortunately for me, I was unable to compete in our last two games of kickball. The first Thursday that I missed was due to Mamapalooza's Moms Night Out. I love kickball, but the thought of getting out with just the girls was too good to pass up. So Glenn went and reported back to me that they won their tournament game, beating the Landsharks, and putting team Tired of Bowling in the runnings to play for the Gold!
On our very last night of kickball, we were scheduled to play team Balls Deep, who was the only team to beat us this season. The winner of that game would go on to play team "Dunder Mifflin" who was in first place and undefeated. Actually, we were beating team Dunder Mifflin in points scored but were in second place because they hadn't lost a game.

This past Thursday we were unable to attend our Championship game because we were leaving for our Family Vacation. I was really bummed, and we even considered playing and then driving up that night. But we didn't want to cut our family vacation short by almost a whole day. So regretfully, we had to pass up our only chance to play the undefeated team. However, one of our friends called us to say that the first game against team Balls Deep was forfeited. I'm not sure what the exact reason was for, but I'm guessing it was because they didn't have enough players. You have to have at least 4 girls present on a team in order to play.
Then we were told that we sadly lost the Championship game with a close score of 3:2, and that all runs scored were due to mistakes on both teams. I'm so pissed that we had to miss it, but I'm sure we'll be seeing them again in the next season. Glenn and I have already signed up for another season of kickball. It was so much fun that we had to do it again! This new season we will be playing on tuesday nights on the new league in Ft. Myers called the Gulf League. We've registered again to play on team Tired of Bowling 2. Hopefully we can change our team name once the season starts. We need a cool name. Already in our league we have a, Balls in your face, Hit it and Bounce, Just for Kicks, Misfit Island, and Balls Deep.
Glenn is already prepared for Season 2 of Kickball. For our last couple games he decided that he needed cleats, and these long black socks. He looks kinda silly in those stalkings, but man those cleats must have set a fire under his butt because the guy is FAST! He has these long skinny legs and when he runs he takes really fast long strides. I've never seen him run that fast before. I was kinda shocked! He has always refused to run with me saying "I'm not a distance runner, I'm a sprinter". He wasn't kidding! Lets hope his new cleats help us win our way to the Championship game again this next season.

Here's some pictures from the last game I played. They are of the awesome catch I made. I fumbled the ball about 3 times in the air before I finally caught it and held on for the out!

Here it comes...

Almost got it...

You're outta there! (this was actually the first fumble, but eventually I caught it) Thanks Steve for the great pictures!

Southern Starz...A Trip Down Memory Lane!

On August 1st the meetup group I'm in, Mamapalooza, was having an event at Southern Starz Gymnastics in Cape Coral. This event was really exciting for me because the owners of Southern Starz are my old all star cheerleading coaches from way back when I was in 8th grade. I cheered for the Lee County All Star Cheerleading team from 8th grade up until my senior year of high school. I probably spent more time with this team then anyone else. It was my passion. I also cheered for my high school cheerleading team, and although I loved the atmosphere of the friday night football games, nothing was comparible to competing and performing with my all star team.
I knew that they owned this gym but had not been there yet. I'm very unfamiliar with Cape Coral so I never go over the bridge unless it's absolutely necessary. Lucky for me, Julie, another mom in the group, also works out with me at the Omni. So she offered to let me follow her to the gym.
As we pulled up and parked I was so excited. I gathered the boys and we headed inside. The place was a zoo. I'm pretty sure almost every member of Mamapalooza was at this place. There were kids everywhere. When I got up to the desk to pay, there was my old cheerleading coach Christi. She couldn't believe I was there. We both hugged and began catching up on what was new in our lives. I knew that she had a few kids, so I finally got to meet them. Brady and Baily are boy and girl twins, and Brock is the youngest. They are 11 months apart. I thought I was crazy with my 13 month gap between the boys, but Holy Cow! I couldn't imagine having TWINS, and then 11 months later having another baby. She is a brave brave woman!
After a little bit of chatting, the boys were anxious to get out into the gym and start playing. So I got them ready and sent them out into the madness. Christi told me that everyone would be there today. Sean- her husband, and my tumbling coach from my Lee County All Star years was there and shortly after, Nancy, Christi's mom showed up. It was seriously a blast from my past.
Sean had had a ponytail for as long as I could remember, so it was interesting to see him with his new spikey hair cut. He told me it was a very new cut and that he was "bringing sexy back"! The guy is a freakin' riot! Everyone was doing great and Nancy was just the same. Hilarious and blunt just like I remember her. We talked about all the funny times we remembered from my many years on their team and reminenced. It was a really really great time. I even stayed about 30 minutess after the open gym event was over, to talk to them a little while longer. What a wonderful day!

Me with Christi, Sean and Nancy

Oh and the boys had an awesome time. The gym was amazing. They did a really great job with everything. The boys jumped in the foam pit, hopped up and down the tumble trak, climbed over bars and beams and really just enjoyed being a care-free kid. They had a really cool children's area of the gym. It was a miniture sized replica of the gym, complete with a mini trampoline, mini foam pit, slides and a tunnel. Both the boys went from one area to the next within minutes. It was tough trying to keep an eye on both of them especially with so many kids there. The only thing that I felt bad about was not getting a chance to chat with the other moms there. I spent most of my time catching with Christi, Sean and Nancy. Needless to say, we will be hanging out at Southern Starz more often. The boys get to run around like maniacs and I get to chat with my favorite coaches!
